ATELIER CARVALHO BERNAU / 11 NOV 10
Publications and typefaces
“The main subject of the evening is our work for small Amsterdam publishing house Octavo publicaties, for whom we designed, among other things, an (ongoing) series of paperback books. We dragged out the design of this series over half a year, researching and examining all the important aspects of “contemporary book making”, and would like to talk about this design process and about our design process in general, about our ideas and convictions, hits and misses. Mostly misses.”
In 2006 they established Atelier Carvalho Bernau in The hague. They mainly work on printed matter (mostly books) and on retail and bespoke typefaces, as well as on free interdisciplinary projects. Typical clients are institutions, publishers and individuals from the cultural sector.
